Two High-Profile Redevelopment Projects in Newark, NJ Nearing Completion
Two landmark properties in Newark for which Phillips Preiss prepared redevelopment studies are close to being redeveloped with high-profile projects. The former Science Park High School on Rector street has been adaptively reused as part of downtown Newark’s first new high-rise residential building in decades. On Clinton Avenue, the façade of the former Clinton Trust Company is being incorporated into the Nina Simone Artists’ Housing development. In its former role as redevelopment consultant to the City of Newark and the Newark Community Economic Development Corporation, the firm performed investigations and prepared reports that allowed Newark to designate these and other properties as redevelopment areas, which allowed for the development of notable projects including the Prudential Center, Teachers Village and Hotel Indigo in a historic downtown building.
